About the Edit PDF tool

100% private: This tool runs entirely inside your web browser. Your files are never uploaded to a server — they never leave your device. That makes it faster, and it means your documents stay completely confidential.

What you can do

Open any PDF and edit detected text lines, run OCR on scanned pages, delete text, add new text boxes, insert images, draw freehand, add rectangles and highlights, and place content anywhere on the page. Desktop users get a thumbnail sidebar, zoom controls, and undo/redo; mobile users get the same editing tools in a touch-friendly layout.

How text editing works

Tallywise detects the PDF text layer, lets you edit those lines visually, masks the original text area, and writes your replacement text into the exported PDF. If a page is image-only, use the OCR button to detect readable text first, then click a detected line to replace or delete it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I edit the existing text in the PDF?

Yes. The editor detects selectable PDF text lines so you can click, edit, replace, or delete them. It preserves the page layout by masking the original text area and writing your replacement text into the final file.

Does it work on scanned PDFs?

Yes, use the OCR button on a scanned page to detect text lines first. OCR quality depends on scan clarity, but once text is detected you can replace or delete it visually.

Are my edits saved to a server?

No. All editing happens in your browser and the finished PDF is generated locally on your device.

Can I add my signature?

Yes. Use the drawing tool to sign by hand, or use the dedicated Sign PDF tool to draw, type, or upload a signature.
